Terry Lee.
There are a lot of meanings for the term, significant other,
A spouse, a partner, in this case it was my big brother,
To whom I looked up too for other worldly advice,
To me Terry will always be, cool as ice, twice as nice.
He carried himself with the positive stature of our dad,
And between those two, they used to drive me mad,
Thankfully that was only in my much younger days,
When I didn’t want to listen to what anyone had to say.
There is an old adage, monkey see monkey do,
I’m thankful for the positive things that I saw in you,
Sadly, we had to grow up thousands of miles apart,
The rare occasions I did see you still dwell in my heart.
Many stories, many memories, I could relate in this post,
Not enough room just the ones I rethink the most,
The gang had me surrounded, the middle of the driveway,
You came outside, one punch, the others ran away.
I wanted to jump on him while he was on the ground,
Then you said, never kick a man when he’s down,
There may come a day when you might be that man,
Hopefully it won’t take you that long to understand.
Your words of wisdom were never more true,
One of the many things I learned from you,
Imparted from our father to you then to me,
From now until eternity my big brother Terry Lee.
